Where is Boni Beach Hotel?
Boni Beach Hotel is located on Serangan Beach, within the Central Lombok Regency, which is an area relatively untouched by mass tourism. The hotel is less than a 100-metre walk to the beach, ideal for a pre-breakfast morning surf.
The hotel is set in a very quiet location; currently, only a few other hotels are in the area, but we are certain it will become a hotspot soon.
How to get to Boni Beach Hotel?
The easiest way to get to Boni Beach Hotel is by taxi, and it is only a 40-minute drive from Kuta, passing Tampah Hills and Selong Belanak Beach. The drive takes over an hour from the local ferry in Lembar and 40 minutes from the airport.
Selong Belanak Beach is a short 10-minute drive from Boni Beach Hotel. The hotel can arrange a private transfer from your location to Boni Beach, but you need to book it in advance.
When is the best time to stay at Boni Beach Hotel?
As a tropical island, Lombok experiences warm weather throughout the year. The main difference is that there is a dry season and a wet season. The dry season is usually from May to October when the majority of visitors come to Lombok, and it is a little busier than during the wet season. July and August tend to be the busiest months with the hottest temperatures.
The wet season starts in November and lasts until March with heavy rain but also warm weather and clean peeling waves. Some activities of exploring around the island, including hiking Mount Rinjani, will be weather dependent. When it rains, it normally only lasts for a few minutes before stopping.
Surfing in Lombok is possible throughout the year, with the combination of the best weather and conditions in the dry season; more popular places may be busier.
What are the rooms like at Boni Beach Hotel?
There are three types of accommodations on offer at Boni Beach: poolside rooms, bungalows, and villas. We stayed in a poolside room with a private balcony, a spacious room with a large bed, a mini fridge, bottled water, tea, and coffee.
The poolside rooms feature a beautiful bathroom with a rainfall shower and Sensatia Botanicals, including body lotion, shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. There are USB sockets to charge your electronics and floor-to-ceiling windows that open to reveal the view.
There are two types of bungalows to choose from; these include either with or without a private pool. The bungalows are more private, with a large bedroom and bathroom and a lush, enclosed garden ideal for families.
The most spacious and luxurious is the four-bedroom villa, which allows you to enjoy the hotel facilities of the restaurant and bar while also enjoying a gorgeous styled villa with a private pool.
What facilities are there at Boni Beach Hotel?
The hotel offers a generous and fresh breakfast for all guests, including one main dish, juice, coffee, and a selection of fruit. The staff serves breakfast downstairs, where a cool breeze flows through the space, inviting you to step outside and explore.
The rooftop bar is a wonderful place to watch the sunset over the nearby chocolate hills and tuck into a delicious dinner under a starry night sky. The evening menu at the restaurant has a variety of traditional and more Western-inspired dishes.
We’d recommend the burgers; the first evening we had the SoCal burger and Smash burger, which comes with chips and sauce. Everything tastes delicious—the chips come out perfectly crispy, and the burger sauce and flavour combinations hit just right.
There is a central pool with sun loungers and an indoor relaxing and eating area with a beautiful rooftop bar perfect for sunsets. Towels are provided for the beach, saving room to bring back souvenirs with you. Boni Beach has a little shop with curated items to take home with you as a memory of your stay.
Hotel services are available, including a cleaning service to refresh your room every day. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to the surrounding area if you don’t want to hire a scooter. This area includes Selong Belanak Beach and Torok Beach; anything outside this is at an extra cost.
The staff are very friendly and smiley, and Elyan and Co. felt like friends. They would give great recommendations of where to explore, giving tips on what to see and do nearby. They always made sure we were looked after, and the ability to book transport free of charge to the nearby beaches was an incredible service that made it effortless to get around without the need for a scooter.
What is there to do near Boni Beach Hotel?
Boni Beach Hotel is close to some of the most beautiful beaches in Lombok, only a few footsteps away from Serangan Beach. This is a hidden surf spot ideal for experienced surfers looking to escape the crowds. It is a right-point reef break with long waves and has a strong current, best at low to mid tide.
For beginner surfers, head over to Selong Belanak Beach for a mixture of beach bums, surfers, and locals. Spend the day on a sun lounger and hire a board or book a lesson at one of the surf schools on the beach. Fishing boats line the southern stretch of the beach, and catching the sunset at Selong Belanak Beach is an absolute must!
There is a lovely café at the eastern end of Serangan Beach called Nine Dining, serving traditional food and Western options. A newly opened spot caught our eye, so we tried their chocolate ice drinks—they were the perfect refreshment after a long walk under the midday sun.
