SINGAPORE ZOO
A zoo experience like no other, unique enclosures allow you to see wild animals as if you were in the wild with them.
SINGAPORE ZOO
When we arrived in Singapore we were only going to spend a couple of nights there before heading off to the Philippines. We wanted a couple of quick days to recover after spending a few weeks exploring Sumatra in Indonesia. Soon after arriving and seeing the city we extended our stay.
Singapore Zoo is famous all around the world for having enclosures that are fenceless leading to a much more authentic experience with the animals.
Zoos often get criticised for housing wild animals but in reality they are extremely important. In the wild many species are critically endangered and even extinct yet they survive and sometimes thrive in zoos. This enables us to not lose a specific species and to continue to learn about them and see them.
Zoos like Singapore with their world leading enclosures do their best to educate people on the threats to wild animals in the hope that animals will one day be able to thrive in the wild again.
We found it fairly easy to get to the zoo via the local bus network. Check the lines and other forms of transport via the zoos website here.
Did you know? Singapore zoo has 315 species of animals and attracts 1.7 million visitors each year.
NIGHT SAFARI
The Night Safari is Singapore's most visited attraction and the world’s first nocturnal zoo experience.
Did you know? The Night Safari has over 900 animals representing more than 100 different types of species.
You will be transported via tram through 6 geographical zones and learn about 50 species of animals. This is the most popular part of the night safari and lasts 40 minutes.
The Night Safari is set in an open air tropical forest that is only open at night time. The animal's natural habits are on display rather than a day zoos reverse habits. The enclosures are similar to the Singapore Zoo and remove the traditional caged enclosures.
Both the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari are fantastic experiences that are not to be missed when you spend any time in Singapore.
