Discover South Africa
There is so much to see and do. Our top pick for Cape Town would be to climb Table Mountain. It is free if you hike the whole route and the views are worth it. We have written in our guides below many other amazing things you can do in the Cape Town and Eastern Cape areas.
We paid £1518 in the BA sale for direct flights to Cape Town. Not a bad price considering we would be flying in the UK summer holidays. You can get cheaper flights if you fly out of season. I just had a look and if you wanted to arrive in South Africas summer time (Jan) then you can fly from London for about £1300 direct.
We hired a rental car for 2 months. It was a small ford and cost us £651. We were younger drivers back then as well and we thought this price was pretty good. I am sure now that we are past the age of 25 the price would be lower.
This was our first big multi month trip together and we stayed in many different places. You can read about it below in our where did we stay guide.
