ISLE OF SKYE
TOP 5 THINGS TO DO
The Isle of Skye, it is a uniquely beautiful Scottish landscape and full of many landscapes that will inspire you around every corner. The mixture of remote rugged cliffs, mountains and white sandy beaches make it the perfect place for an adventure. We love the Isle so much that we called one of our cats after it.
THE FAIRY POOLS
Cascading pools of aquamarine blue water in the shadows of the Black Cuillin mountains. If you are feeling brave, this is the perfect place for a wild swim. Read our Fairy Pools guide here if you want to read more about this magical spot.
OLD MAN OF STORR
The Storr which has an elevation of 719 meters is a rocky mountain. The Old Man of Storr makes this site famous. A historic landslide led to the creation of the Old Man, a large rocky pinnacle that can be seen from a good distance. Hike up into the Storr for a great view and closeups of the Old Man.
NEIST POINT LIGHTHOUSE
First lit in 1909 and now remotely operated the lighthouse is a fantastic place to watch the sunset from. Sit on the hills looking out over the lighthouse and on a good day the light will make the sides of the cliffs glow orange as the sky lights up.
THE QUIRAING
Formed from a large landslip which is still moving, the road below requires repairs each year. It is a must do hike when on the Isle of Skye and takes in some breathtaking scenery.
The highlight is walking to the large rock like formation called the Needle. Similar in appearance to the rock formations at the Storr.
CORAL BEACH
Formed from crushed white coral the beach is perfectly white and the water on a clear sunny day is a turquoise often found in the Caribbean. A beautiful beach that deserves a visit when on Skye.
