When is the Best time of year to visit Taghazout?
Taghazout is an all-year-round destination with warm temperatures and excellent surfing conditions, making it the perfect winter sun escape.
The best months for surfing are from September to April. During this time, the North Atlantic swells provide consistent waves suitable for all skill levels. Beginners can enjoy small waves, while intermediate and advanced surfers will find larger swells and technical breaks, particularly from December to February. Water temperatures during this season generally range from 18°C to 22°C.
Many surf houses offer discounts for visitors outside the peak surfing season. January is the coolest month, with average daytime temperatures around 20°C and nighttime lows near 11°C, and it is one of our favourite times to visit. Rainfall is minimal, so even in winter, Taghazout offers plenty of sun and surf.
Munga GuestHouse
Located in the heart of Taghazout, Munga Guesthouse is a truly unique and wonderful place to stay. Spread across three buildings, Munga offers 17 spacious rooms, each with its own theme and style, so no two rooms are the same.
The owners spent over a decade designing this one-of-a-kind boutique hotel, making each suite feel like its own masterpiece. During our stay, we had the chance to experience both the Driftwood Room suite and the Africa Magnum suite. Both rooms were wonderful, the balcony of the driftwood room was our favourite, with panoramic ocean views and exuded coastal romance.
Munga is one of the best guesthouses in Taghazout, offering a luxury experience and exceptional hospitality. Each rooftop has a different view of the village, with plenty of space to relax and even cool down in the rooftop pool. There are two restaurants which serve locally sourced dishes, and you can also organise activities such as surfing and yoga.
Rooms typically start at £120 per night, with a minimum stay of three nights. If you want to get the full picture of our time at Munga, read our experience. It is one of our favourite places to stay in Taghazout.

Chic interiors blend modern and traditional Moroccan design, giving a high-end, luxurious feel with all the comforts you would expect. The combination of a friendly social atmosphere and fantastic amenities is what makes Amouage one of the most sought-after surf accommodations in Taghazout.

World of Waves
Offering some of the best beach views in Taghzout, the location of World of Waves is what makes this place special. The breakfast at WOW is also one of the best we’ve had in Taghazout. We particularly loved the fresh smoothie bowls and juices.
World of Waves has a relaxed atmosphere with a large outdoor and indoor seating area for guests and a co-working space for digital nomads. It’s a family-run business with friendly staff, and a rivalled location. The outdoor restaurant overlooks the beach, with the option to sit indoors too.
World of Waves is a boutique surf hotel that combines modern comfort with a passion for surfing. Set just footsteps from the beach, it offers contemporary rooms with ocean views, a rooftop terrace, and a surf school catering to all levels.
The hotel’s design is clean and minimalistic, with the focus, of course, on the surfing and the local surroundings. We stayed in the Mystery Room, which is one of three larger rooms located on the top floor with a large shared balcony. Directly below is another outdoor terrace where yoga lessons take place.

It feels more like stepping into a friend’s home than a hostel, and Boris welcomes you with open arms to make sure you have a great time. You can relax, make friends, and still chase waves every day.
There are several rooms to choose from: mixed dorm, female-only dorm, and private rooms, all with dreamy ocean views. The décor has an authentic Moroccan touch, creating a warm, cosy atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. The living space is the heart of the home, with a terrace and rooftop for sunsets, a fireplace, comfy sofas, a dining table, and a TV, but it’s the conversations and connections that really make this place special.
Teddy Pirate offers flexible surf packages for a day, 4 days, or 7 days, which include gear hire, daily surf classes, home-cooked dinners, excursions, and packed lunches. It’s a great way to connect and make friends. If you prefer to go at your own pace, the bed-and-breakfast option lets you enjoy mornings swimming, wandering the village streets, and watching the fishing boats come and go.
Delicious, fresh, home-cooked dinners are served daily, and it’s easy to see why guests rave about it. One night, we had mushroom risotto with Boris’ own argan oil and truffle infusion, made with mushrooms he’d hand-picked in northern Italy. A truly unforgettable experience!
It’s no surprise that Teddy Pirate is one of the top-rated hostels in Taghazout. It isn’t just a place to sleep. You’ll leave with friends, memories, and stories that make you want to return time and time again.
