Our journey started by catching a taxi through the busy streets of the medina of Maarakech we walked for a few minutes before turning down a quieter side street. Around another corner we were greeted with a large terracota wall and a grand wooden door. We knocked and it opened, behind the door we were welcomed into the oasis of Demeures d'Orient Luxury Riad and Spa. Set on a quiet street within the medina, it felt like a peaceful sanctuary to escape and rest in.

Whilst staying in Marrakesh we took the bus to Agadir to explore the beautiful coastline and loved the chilled atmosphere at Taghazout as a contrast to the modern city of Agadir. Adventurous souls head to Atlas Mountains to attempt the challenge of summiting Africas tallest peak, Toubkal.

Apart from being located within the heart of Marrakech, the old medina, this luxury riad has a large central pool in the courtyard, a variety of areas to chill, comfortable suite rooms and a panoramic rooftop terrace. WHERE IS demeures d'Orient?
Demeured d’Orient is located in the northern part of the medina of Marrakesh and is just a stones throw from the souks (traditional markets). The Jemaa el-Fna, Ibn Youssef School and Le Jardin Sectet are within walking distance.
HOW TO GET TO RESIDENCES D'ORIENT?
By plane
The nearest airpot is Marrakech Menara international airport and takes around 3 hours 30 minutes from London airports in the UK. The best way to get to Marrakech city from the airport is to take a taxi. A taxi will be able to take you all the way from the airport to the front door of the Riad. This is the easiest way to arrive so that you shouldn’t have to navigate on foot with your bags.
By Bus
If you arrived in Morocco via Agadi airport, an easy and affordable way to travel to Marrakech is by bus. The journey is around 3 and a half hours and costs 120 MAD (£10/$14/€13) per person and an additional 9 dirhams for a suitcase. We would recommend using CTM busses which can be booked on their website. There are also Supratours which offer a similar service.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT demeures D'ORIENT?
We have been to Morocco in both the winter and summer. The summer months are busier and warmer during the day and evening times. The winter months are much quieter and with the sun out during the day the weather is a comfortable temperature. However, in the evenings during winter it is significantly cooler and a jacket and trousers are recommended.
WHAT ARE THE rooms LIKE AT Demeures D'ORIENT riad?
The Demeures d’Orient luxury Riad is a suite hotel and features 12 rooms in total set over two levels. All of the rooms have a large comfortable bed, fireplace, seating area and large bathroom. They each feature traditional elements and all overlook the courtyard area of the Riad. You will be provided with robes, towels, toiletries and a traditional Moroccan tea upon arrival. There is a large central pool that is for the use of all guests, spacious rooftop terrace and luxury spa including the option of a hamman. Breakfast is served pool side in the mornings and the Riad has its own restaurant serving traditional dishes.

The Riad has its own restaurant which caters for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each morning breakfast consists of a variety of local delicacies such as fresh fruit, jams and a mix of continental choices served on tables located around the pool. CAFE ATAY
We stumbled across this place on our first night in Marrakesh, without doing any research but wanted to find somewhere with a rooftop terrace and eat some good food and we were very happy to find Cafe Atay.
LIMONI
A hidden treasure and relaxing refuge from the busy streets, Limoni is located only a short walk from Demeures d’Orient Riad. Limoni is an italian restaurant that also serves traditional Moroccan food in a beautiful courtyard setting underneath lemon trees.
NOMAD
Nomad is a rooftop restaurant overlooking the Spice market and a great spot for sunset. Serving fresh local produce, traditional Moroccan cuisine and international dishes with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.
WHAT FACILITIES ARE THERE AT Demeures D'ORIENT?
The Riad has its own luxury spa with treatment rooms offering a broad range of massages. There is a hamman where you can indulge in various different types of body scrubs. The beauty area offers everything from manicures, pedicures to hair waxing.
The roof top terrace is spacious and has plenty of sun beds, chairs and tables for a relaxing afternoon in the sun. There is also an outdoor shower on the roof.
The central pool is heated all year round and is large enough to accommodate all guests and offers you the chance to cool down from the heat of the day in a beautiful setting.
