The quaint seaside village of Perranporth is a firm favourite with many visitors to Cornwall each year, with its beautiful long golden sand beach and enviable coastal views. In recent years, Perranporth has welcomed a few new noteworthy additions to its food scene, branching beyond the plain ole fish and chips.
Cornwall has a vibrant culinary scene, with a history of well-known creations such as the beloved Cornish pasty, world-famous ciders and fresh seafood. Many restaurants and cafés in Cornwall are proud to support local farms, and businesses that produce the best quality and use ingredients grown in the county, reducing transport times and enjoying it in its prime.

The Best restaurants and food in Perranporth
HEALEYS CORNISH CYDER FARM
The home of Rattler Cider, Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm has been producing award-winning cider for over 30 years in the Cornish countryside. Healeys is a short 10-minute drive from Perranporth and is worth combining your visit with Callestick Ice Cream parlour.
It’s a family-owned business with pride in its produce, offering guided tours around the farm to show you how the cider is made onsite. The farm is family-friendly with animals and tours catered to young kids with farm animals including pygmy goats, horses, pigs and peacocks!
There is the option of an adult-only tour to learn about the cider-making process and a chance to taste or if you’d prefer to go at your own pace go on a self-guided tour. Cider isn’t the only thing on offer, there is a restaurant serving salads and sandwiches and a chance to pair it with some delicious Cornish cider.
Take your favourites home with you with an opportunity to purchase in the farm shop. Each year in April the Rattler Festival is held at Healey Cyder Farm for a weekend of celebrations, live music, entertainment and even the Rattler Olympics.
CALLESTICK ICE CREAM PARLOUR
Just around the corner from Healeys is the wonderful Callestick Ice Cream Parlour, where they produce their ice cream onsite using fresh milk from their free-range grass-fed cows in the surrounding fields. Callestick is some of the best Cornish ice cream using natural ingredients and a selection of delicious flavours.
There is a lovely outdoor courtyard, a bigger field opposite the car park with a children’s play area and indoor seating for you to enjoy ice cream no matter what the weather is like!
Callestick produced the Cornish ice cream range at M&S and improved their freezing process to meet demand which unfortunately means you can no longer watch the process. There is an indoor ice cream parlour for you to try 18 different flavours. They also serve cream teas, milkshakes, sundaes and hot waffles.
ALCATRAZ
Alcatraz is located right on Perranporth Beach and in 2018 was converted from a WWII gun shelter into a modern, stylish coffee and cocktail bar with a spectacular rooftop terrace. The rooftop terrace has unobstructed views of Perranporth Beach and is one of the best places to enjoy a drink at sunset in Perranporth.
Not only a sunset drinks spot, Alcatraz is open from 9 am serving coffee, sweet treats from local bakeries, cakes, soups and delicious toasties. Alcatraz is supplied by local businesses and the menu can change depending on the season and what is available.
GORSE BAKERY
Opened in 2021, Gorse Bakery is located just outside of Perranporth, close to Goonhavern but well worth the slight detour! The bakery is owned by Nat and Anna who moved to Lanteague in April 2023 which is surrounded by other local Cornish businesses including surf shops, florists and hairdressers.
The bakery specialises in delicious sourdough bread, which sells out quickly and is worth getting there early for your chance to get some! There is lovely space to sit inside (there will be an outdoor area soon) and enjoy a freshly baked pastry, or choose from their wonderful lunch menu including bacon sandwiches which are simply delicious. They also serve coffee and fresh juices and it is fascinating to observe the bakers getting the next batch of sourdough ready to bake.
SUMMERHOUSE
Fresh on the block in July 2018, The Summerhouse restaurant is a wonderful addition to the selection of restaurants in Perranporth offering a wonderful view of Perranporth Beach. Originally the summer house for Captain John Oates, the wealthy owner of Great Wheal Leisure mine (for those Poldark fans it may sound familiar).
The Summerhouse is open from lunch serving a ‘surf and turf’ menu including fish tacos, burgers, mussels, oysters and mouthwatering gucci fries. Offering a lovely relaxed dining experience, The Summerhouse has a bright airy indoor space set up with a few booths and floor-to-ceiling windows.
There is an outdoor terrace which is dog-friendly perfect for sunset drinks and food. Visit for a delicious Sunday roast which you will need to book in advance, usually for the rest of the week no bookings are taken.
Pavilion ice cream
The Pavilion Ice Cream shop is on Beach Road in Perranporth and is a prime spot for grabbing an ice cream to enjoy on one of the benches in front of the car park or ultimately on Perranporth Beach. The ice cream is hand-made daily at the Pavilion shop and new flavours are introduced throughout the season.
Perran dairy
Producing handmade Cornish ice cream for the last 50 years, Perran Dairy is located on the high street on St Pirans Road with an indoor seating area for you to enjoy your selection of ice cream, waffles, sundaes or crepes. Perran Dairy also serve savoury temptations including pizzas and paninis.
THE WATERING HOLE
A favourite place for locals and visitors, the Watering Hole was created in 1978 as a shack and slowly over time was transformed into what it is today, the UK’s only bar on the beach. There are several benches and umbrellas to enjoy a drink and food with your feet in the sand and a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean waves.
The Watering Hole is open throughout the year even in winter depending on the weather and serves a range of local ales, ciders and hot food. The perfect combination is a dip in the tidal pool and then warm up with a lovely hot chocolate.
The Watering Hole hosts several events throughout the year, including live music, parties and shows to keep you entertained. Currently, The Watering Hole is undergoing a huge revamp with renovation works that will create a large outdoor terrace providing an elevated view of Perranporth Beach.
NO.4 BREAKFAST AND BISTRO
After a challenging time over lockdown, No.4 Breakfast and Bistro came through the other side triumphant and is a firm favourite. Ideally located in the heart of Perranporth serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, also serving Sunday roasts and wonderful cocktails. The menu has a large variety including fresh seafood, steak, Thai curry, pancakes, full English and tempting dessert options.
BLACK FLAG BREWERY
An independent brewery that serves local beers that are made in small batches using organic malts. The Blag Flag Brewery is located just opposite the footpath of the Saints trail on New Road which is open from Friday to Sunday and is approximately a 15-minute walk to the beach.
Pizzas are served on Fridays and Saturdays and are available for takeaway and collection. There are benches to sit outside or inside to enjoy your beer and pizza.
Cornish Lavender
Opening on the 18th of May until the 11th of August for the 2024 season, Cornish Lavender is a lovely spot just outside the main village of Perranporth (around a 30-minute walk). A lovely spot in the Cornish countryside offering signature lavender cream teas overlooking beautiful organically grown lavender.
There have been some upgrades for this year’s season and there are events and workshops. Learn about different types of Lavender and enjoy the splendour that Tina has put in over the years to create this little slice of heaven near Perranporth.
CHAPMANS & SONS BUTCHERS
A local family-run butcher with more than 50 years in business, Chapmans & Sons butchers is located on the main high street of Perranporth just next to the co-op. They serve freshly baked Cornish pasties with incredible flavours and are very generous in size!
At the weekends they prepare BBQ packs which are good value and they also offer a wide range of meats and cuts. Many of the selections on offer come pre-marinated perfect for those BBQs on the beach. The shop also stocks other local produce including eggs, cheese and wines.
THE TEA ROOM
A lovely cottage-core style tea room in Perranporth, The Tea Room is a cosy café not far from Perranporth Beach. The Tea Room serves traditional cream tea, afternoon tea, homemade cakes, homemade scones, breakfasts and lunches. It is also dog friendly and offer dog-friendly ice cream.
Seiners Arms
A family-run bed and breakfast, The Seiners Arms is set opposite Perranporth Beach with sea views and a rustic interior. We enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast dinner at The Seiners Arms surrounded by fishing memorabilia and has a friendly atmosphere.
The restaurant menu includes fresh local ingredients and serves food from 12 to 3 pm and 6 to 9 pm. The Seiners Arms is a dog-friendly B&B and also has a beautiful room available for hire for private events.
